What’s on the shelf at your kid’s school?

Every Texas district keeps a library catalog. It is a public record, and no district publishes it as a list you can read. We ask for it, campus by campus, under the Texas Public Information Act — then index what comes back by title, author, and content topic, with every entry cited to the record it came from.

The map is the whole state at a glance. Your district, your campus, the title list itself, and the request that obtained it are in the dashboard.

Counts only grow as more catalogs are obtained — a low number can mean few records obtained, not a clean shelf, and a district we have partly captured shows what we’ve verified, never more. What is LION?

Neighborhood watch groups taught Texas to pay attention — but posts scroll away and screenshots lose their sources. LION is the next generation of that work. Five things:

For-profit public-records analytics firm. Independent, founder-led, Texas. Paid to be accurate, not loud.

Cited to source, every published record. We authenticate the source a record comes from — we never referee opinions.

Contribute a record. A board vote, a document, an overcharge for public records — with its source. Everything is reviewed before it publishes; what clears review lands on that ISD, city, or county’s page.

August 2026: Cisco ISD demanded payment to release a public book list. Fifty minutes after our letter reached its board, the list was free.

The school-library catalog. 1,023,443 distinct titles across 169 districts, indexed by campus and content topic, every entry cited to the record it came from. A free account browses what’s open; a subscription — from $1 a week — opens all of it.

The live records docket. Every request we have out, what day it is on, and what came back.
Adopt
Adopt a request. Put your name behind a specific records request from the live docket.

Signing in is free and takes one email. We send you a button; pressing it signs you in — no password, no card, no cost. An account is what lets you follow a district, adopt a request, and contribute a record.
